Young
Scientist Exhibition 2007
Report
by Kevin C. (Mr. O'Flynn's class)
This
year St Josephs B.N.S put two projects into the Young Scientist Exhibition

It
was held again in the R.D.S. On Thursday the 11th of January the
green committee set up their stand in the exhibition. Mr Concannon was the
organizer for the green committee. This year the stand had many visitors.
On
Friday the 12th Mr ‘O Flynn’s class set up their stand. This year
they where doing “LIGHTNING”
The class of thirty two worked for two long days in the R.D.S testing the
knowledge of the public on lightning. Charlie Bird and Pat Kenny from
R.T.E visited our stand..

During
the two days in the R.D.S R.T.E did
the weather forecast report in the exhibition, it was recorded in front of the
lightning stand.
There
were also prizes to be won such as a new phone, x
box
360
or an ipod. The games which these prizes could be won at where “The Misty
Room” and “Relax”. Relax was a game where two people put on a black strap
around their heads. The black strap determines how relaxed you are. There is a
ball on the table in front of you whoever is more relaxed the ball will move
into your opponents circle.
Another
very amusing project was the “Cubinator”. The cubinator was a robot that can
solve a rubix cube in 16.02 seconds. It also took 5,000 euro to make.
We
would like to thank Mr O’ Flynn and Mr Ring for organizing the lightning
project and a special thanks to the pupils of 6th for participating
in this event.
