There's Something Fishy
in Terenure

Last
Friday the 7th of December, we travelled to Swords to meet the
winners of the first national Something Fishy competition. 160 schools took part
and the two winners were
St Joseph
’s BNS, Terenure of Dublin and
St. Joseph
’s, Culleens of Sligo. They had both done amazing projects but in the end the
judges could not choose one winner. Both schools were awarded two hundred euro
and a digital microscope. The school from
Sligo
are going to buy an aquarium with their prize money and we donated the money to
Airfield Trust for further conservation of our wildlife and river habitat.
The
Central Fishery Board showed everyone a small bit of the huge
Dublin
school’s project and the entire
Sligo
school’s project.
Dublin
footballer
Mark Vaughan made a speech along with the principals of both schools and
representatives from the Central Fisheries Board.
After
there was a buffet and television interviews by ‘The Den’. Mark Vaughan
signed autographs and everyone received a goody bag before we headed for
home.
