Accelerated Reading:
Accelerated Reader has being introduced to all
classes from 1st to 6th in September. The aim is to
inspire a love of reading in all pupils, develop self-directed readers and
encourage reluctant readers. It also
ensures that each pupil is reading books that are suited to him.
All pupils have been tested to assess the level of book that would be most
appropriate to their reading age. A selection of books will be recommended for
each pupil to match his reading level. Each boy has access to a website that
will monitor his reading progress, offer quizzes based on the books he has read
and offer incentives to motivate further reading. Certain aspects of this
facility may be accessed from home. We will
be providing more information on this facility in November.

Junior Librarian:
St. Joseph's now has a new cataloguing system for library books
in the school. All books have been catalogued and distributed to classes
where they may be easily accessed by the pupils. Each classroom and resource
room has a scanner. Teachers may now monitor and reading patterns of the pupils
as well as recording books and media borrowed.

Intranet:
We have developed an intranet in St. Joseph's to facilitated easy
access to relevant digital content for both pupils and teachers. Using this
'Resource Index' resources from the internet or resources created by the
teachers and pupils may be shared with all classes in the school. This resource
has been developed over many years and is being constantly revised and
updated.

Virtual Learning Environment:
Moodle, our VLE, is used by all classes for uploading
assignments, accessing school resources outside of school time, collaborating on
projects and commnunicating with other pupils and teachers in the school. More
information on this is available here
