Green Home Flag Award

December 2010

Having been put back due to weather conditions, we finally got to raise our Green Home Flag on Dec.16. We were pleased to welcome deputy Lord Mayor and former member of our Green Team, Councillor Edie Wynne, to do the honours. Members of our Board of Management and Parents’ Association were also present as well as Dorothy Stewart, Greenhome Manager from Greenschools.

Mr.  Hume praised the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce for this Green Schools initiative which for the last 13 years has successfully promoted sustainability in Irish Schools. He also commended  teachers and their pupils for the enthusiasm they have shown in ‘greening’ our  schools. Over 85% of Irish schools are now involved in An Taisce’s Green Flag initiative. On behalf of the Green Team I would like to thank you, the parents, for the effort put in throughout the Green Home campaign.

Our next theme will be Biodiversity but let’s celebrate this year’s achievement first.

Wishing you all a Happy and a Green Christmas. And boys, remember to recycle all those Christmas cards and wrapping paper!!
