On October 25th. 2006, Minister or Education and Science, Mary Hanafin, presented the Digital Schools Award to St. Joseph's BNS. The Digital Schools award was initiated this year to inspire schools to use ICT to support learning and teaching in the teaching.

In St. Joseph's we developed the concept of the Digital Curriculum. The Digital Curriculum allows us to use digital media to deliver the curriculum.

bulletEach teacher in the school has a laptop.
bulletEach classroom in the school has a data projector,
bulletEach classroom has a wireless mouse and keyboard to allow the children to interact with the digital media.
bulletWe have developed a central resource library from which the teachers can access resources for all subjects.
bulletEach classroom has its own email address so children may email their work to class or from school to home.
bulletAll classrooms are have wired and wireless network access.
bulletAll classrooms have broadband internet access.
bulletChildren may present work from the computer room or project work from home to the other children in the class.
