Home Up Memories required

On June 27th. 2007 we travelled back in time to June 1867 in St. Joseph's. Things were not so good then.

We had no electricity or digital technology. We did have drill, corporal punishment and the 3 R's. The good old days !!!!

Master Hume and Miss Durkan 'welcomed' all the children to school.

Ms. Hogan's friendly face brightened up the days for the boys  - with an 1866 visualiser in the foreground.

'Sín amach do lámh' arsa Miss Hogan

Some happy boys lined up by the wall - a skill they would no doubt require in the 1866.

Junior infants still thought that school was supposed to be fun. Ms. Thornton sorted them out

Miss O'Riordan and Miss Martin

The 'bata' was used frequently.

Obviously Bean Uí Loingsigh didn't hear of Specsavers in 1866.

Ms. Larmer had the boys do their drill.

More drill. This is serious work.

Drill Mistress Molloy conducted the class.

Mr. Hallinan sorts out some boys in the school yard.
